The infamous "xiu shui jie" or as me and jie call it, "rusted water street" :P who would have known, that 5 years or so later, I would find out the real english meaning of this place, in a rather different setting of the same place..
Honestly speaking, I actually preferred the older place, though it was messy and stuff, I must say that it had its more traditional taste then. I really wish I can go back to Shanghai's Xiang Yang Lu before it eventually becomes something like this.... Modernisation kills culture to make new culture ....

Talked to this old chap for a minute or 2, he is one of the many volunteer citizen watch members, much like the neighborhood watch group we have. He went on ranting about how the TV and the newspapers broadcasted one of his "cases" and announced and promoted the watch group. He initially thought I was some kind of reporter... Anyway, he told me how the generation mindset has changed - Mao Zi Dong's generation and people VS Modern Chinese people (teen agers and young adults), he was saying how these young people have abandon any shread of country pride and how the tele has abandoned chinese "propaganda" for pop culture. I somewhat understand his sentiments, I mean if you have been brought up in a time whereby pride for nation and nation loyalty was highly regarded and emphasized, you, like him would naturally be saddened by the rapid change in mindset and the turn in societal beliefs, which have been influenced by pop culture and all...

Random shot on the streets, the weather is clearing up, I actually could walk about without feeling so cold. It is a pleasant 8 to 10 degrees nowadays. Gosh, I think I cant stop sweating when I go home ... dry weathers perfect for my Nikon baby as well :)

Bargainning at Hong Chiao Pearl Centre (red bridge) ! hahas Paps and boss discussing on the quality and colours of Peshminian scarfs ! The lady in pink on the extreme right looks on to see if she can at any point clarify doubts / raise the price :D

Hong Chiao is more or less the replacement for foreigner influenced, price inflated Xiu Shui Jie, though, at the looks of it, its only a matter of months or years before they are on par..... sad for future foreigners.

Another one of the many goods u can get at Hong Qiao :P

Pan Jia Yuan Antique/ Junk market !

Loads of stuff you can find here, my junk is your PrEaCiOus ...
Stripper clip !! The rounds on it looks real enough, but at least the clip works fine, I managed to strip and add on rounds :P Wonder which rifle this belongs to ... one of the communists SKS or the German G43? If you say Mosin Nangant or K98... I say go SC... hahas Anyways, they have quite a few military stands lying around, I even saw a stand selling the Waffen SS "police cap" i dunno wads the technical name. With the Death Heads Skull, but it looked kinda fake and low quality fake, so I passed it.. (I dun mind replicas, but not low quality replicas) The best deal I got at the Panjia Yuan Antique Market ??? A TLR ! I finally own one of these medium formatters, always wanted to try it out, I guess 26SGD is a good price, just for kicks and to play around with :D hmmm, planning to get a seagull :D Had to actually unscrew the top though, cause the mirror was covered in filfth and dust ... well, I did me best for this TLR, Taking and viewing lens was reasonably clear, and shutter fires when cocked, timer works just fine too, and apperture blades functions properly, now I just hope the shutter speeds fire accurately :P
Side cart selling candy on the side of the road or more like on the road...

See See I told ya hahas ! Ill go to Buckies again !!! And I did just that, though for the 2nd and last time I drank cold iced caramel machiatto.

Shui Zhu Yu (water cooked fish ???) atleast tts how its pronounced ! Some kinda fresh fish, which is like raw and all, then they just dump, LITERALLY piping and boiling hot oil seasoned with 5 spice, chilli and everything nice :P onto the raw fish, there by cooking it instantly ! Really nice dish, and I was told that its the famous dishes of China too, so if you dun try it its a waste.

What you see here is fish slices (the white parts) and chilli, peppers, star anise etc. floating in a basin of hot oil, infact the oil was still bubbling when we got the picture, easy to burn the tongue, must becareful, and SUPER oily/ fattening :P

SUPER cheap but super oily lar .. haiz haha.. I left like 18RMB in my wallet, and i was hungry, in Singapore, I prolly wouldnt have been able to eat in this kind of environment, this plate costs RMB7 !
Chillis free ofcourse !! Ive been eating this particular "balachan" lookalike chilli, They seem to have it everywhere, even in the company canteens !

Tada ! This place which serves the cheap 7RMB noodles !! hhahas, much like the 5RMB beef brisket noodle house in HuiZhou, this place is gonna see alot of KNN in weeks to come ! Whats more, I just discoveres that they serve water cooked fish (or more like oil cooked ...) Im gonna try one time before I leave ! muahahha, KFC will have to wait too :P

This is the kind of driving in china.... wth.. some bitch tried to turn into a one way lane...

Cencorship, well not really lar. attended the BICF (Beijing International Christian Fellowship) church this Sunday, which was another different one, though it somewhat resembles NCC back home, I very much prefer the previous one, it was really what I have been looking around for... a brick walled "stereotipical english 18 or so century cathedral church", unlike this one which was like NCC, held in a concert like setting... both messeges were good nonetheless, though I thought this one was more relaxing and had more jokes in it :)

If you're wondering what this is .... well, its a package that is gonna be shipped off to He Bei or the companys production plant. I always received packages from ebay sellers, never thought in a bit that I would wrap my first export package not for ebay :P (Tami, you package dun count cause it was local :P)
